Pristine and well-curated, the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park is a fascinating glimpse into the Battle of Bosworth. Wrap up warm and hike out to the head of Staunton Harold Reservoir, right on the edge of Leicestershire’s county border with Derbyshire. Dimminsdale Reserve, if your timing is right, is where you’ll find snowdrops as far as the eye can see, with their promise of springtime. It’s also a Site of Special Scientific Interest, so tread carefully and be sure to stay on the paths. Several old mine shafts remain in the Reserve. The area is part of the National Forest, so there is plenty to see and lots of nature to explore here.
To mark the start of Diwali, the Belgrave Road area of Leicester is bathed light, with a Festival of Light opening party in late October. For the two weeks that follow, the city comes alive with theatre performances, parades, exhibitions and, of course, mouth-watering food. All faiths and races come together to join in with the festivities - a celebration for the whole family to enjoy.
The National Space Centre in Leicester is sure to spark your imagination. Packed with artifacts from space and interactive exhibitions, including amazing real rockets and the largest planetarium dome in the country, the centre offers a fun and educational day out for the entire family.
