The Avant Homes planning team has grown considerably over the last few years. With the planning system becoming ever more complex and highly politicised, our planning team are vital in providing clear, practical and specialist advice in all aspects of the challenging planning process.

Our planning team have extensive experience in effectively resolving any potential planning issues which may arise to assist in delivering sustainable, high-quality, and environmentally enhanced housing developments which we can be proud of.

The planning team structure

Our dynamic Avant planning team has over 50 years’ experience with local knowledge which spans over several regions across England and Scotland.

Our diverse Planning Team is led by Group Head of Planning: Alastair Cliffe and seven dedicated regional planners who are experienced Charactered Town Planners or who are working towards their Royal Town Planning Institute accreditation.

Our expertise

With experience and ongoing training and professional development, our Planning Team have a rounded skills set which includes:

  • In-depth understanding of adopted and emerging local and national planning policy and guidance as well as legal frameworks associated with planning management and development procurement to devise planning strategies and realistically assess any potential opportunity.
  • Comprehensive technical and legal knowledge and broad financial awareness that impact on landowners and Avants commercial and planning objectives.
  • Working collaboratively and building and maintaining meaningful relationship with Local Planning Authorities, industry bodies such as the Home Builders Federation, Combined Authorities, and the best technical consultant teams.
  • The ability to communicate and present to a variety of people including landowners, local communities, Local Planning Authorities, the media, and elected Councillors.

Greensward Point, Easingwold, North Yorkshire

Our Planning Team in North Yorkshire worked closely with the Local Planning Authority (Hambleton District Council) to secure a planning consent on a site in Easingwold, North Yorkshire ahead of the site’s formal allocation within the Council’s new Local Plan.

The team undertook an extensive period of consultation with the local community, Easingwold Town Council, and other key stakeholders such as Historic England due to a Grade II* Church to the South of the site and Easingwold Community Primary School which was adjacent to the site.

The planning team ensured that the scheme, which was the largest housing development in the Town for several decades was presented to the Council’s Planning Committee with no major objections.

The site delivered tangible benefits for the local community through the provision of two acres of school playing pitches, a new safe and secure school staff car park to overcome persistent car parking pressures at the school, a wildlife enhancement area, and a significant financial contribution towards the future expansion of the school.
