Transport in Tranent

Offering regular bus services connecting Tranent to nearby Macmerry, Edinburgh and the rest of East Lothian, Lothian Buses is the town’s preeminent bus provider and does a great job of keeping the townspeople connected.
The nearest railway station to Thistle Meadows is Prestonpans, just a seven-minute drive away from our development.
From Prestonpans, commuters can catch a number of services to the likes of Edinburgh, Glasgow, North Berwick, Carstairs, Longniddry, and Wallyford. 
Tranent is also situated by the A1, connecting the town to the likes of London, Edinburgh, Stamford, Newcastle upon Tyne, Doncaster, Peterborough, and Sunderland.

Things to do in Tranent

Close to the beautiful East Lothian coast, Tranent provides a laid-back respite from a commuter’s 9-5 job, with nearby woodland areas such as Ormiston Park featuring winding paths, panoramic countryside views, and play areas suitable for all ages. The park also boasts a 7-a-side football pitch, skate ramps and free parking!
There are also a number of other communal amenities offered by Tranent, including the popular George Johnstone Centre – which features both a library and a computer room for anyone to make use of.
The town’s Gala Week, which dates back to 1934, is a calendar highlight.

Schools in Tranent

In terms of access to the good schools in the area, you couldn’t be better situated, living in Thistle Meadows, with several excellent schools just minutes away from our new development.
Well-regarded schools, like Windygoul Primary School for example, is only five minutes’ walk away, with the town’s other primary schools – like Sandersons Wynd Primary School and St Martins Primary School – being a 6-minute and 11-minute drive away respectively. 
The town’s secondary school – Ross High School – is about 10 minutes’ walk from Thistle Meadows and, in 2017, received a UNICEF Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award.
