Transport in Normanton

Church Road, which passes right by Altoft Acres, is the main road for anyone wanting to head into Wakefield or onto the nearby M62. The motorway is a quick 5 minute drive away, allowing access to Huddersfield and Pontefract, as well as Leeds and London via the M1.

The closest railway station to the development is Normanton station. From there, residents can catch hourly trains to Leeds and Sheffield, as well as regular services to Manchester and York.

Anyone wanting to travel around by bus will be glad to know the nearest stop (Miners Arms PH) is a quick 2 minute walk away. It serves Arriva’s 186 route, which travels every hour between Wakefield and Pontefract via Castleford. And for those looking for a quick (or long) trip abroad to take full advantage of sunshine elsewhere, Leeds Bradford Airport is a 45-minute drive away, offering direct flights to France, Spain, Morocco and many more!

Things to do around Altofts, and Normanton

Haw Hill Park in Normanton is a 28 minute walk away, where you can practice your tennis, feed the ducks, or simply let the kids run wild. There is also Lock Lane Park right by Altofts Acres if you just want to stretch your legs.
 
If you’re a nature lover, RSPB St Aidan’s National Nature Reserve is only 20 minutes from the development. Here there is plenty of walking trails and you might spot birds like kingfishers and spoonbills!
 
Residents looking for an indoor day out will find it at Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford (a 10 minute drive away).
