Things to do

The Triangular Lodge, just outside Kettering, is proof that in England, you'll find architectural wonders in unlikely places. The beautiful and unusual structure was built by Sir Thomas Tresham sometime between 1593 and 1597 as a symbol of his Catholicism, having been imprisoned for 15 years for refusing to become a Protestant.

The Lighthouse theatre opened in May 2008 and is the main venue for performing arts and entertainment in Kettering. Located just ten minutes' walk from the town centre, enjoy live music, musicals, and pantomimes here.

For the full force of family fun, Wicksteed Park has 30 exciting rides and activities, suitable for all ages and to top it off, there’s 147 acres of beautiful rolling parkland to explore too free to use for the whole day. There’s also a campsite if you fancied a night away from home, sleeping under the stars.

The 10-acre gardens of Coton Manor sit in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. Originally laid out in the 1920s by the grandparents of the current owner, Coton Manor comprises several small individual gardens, providing variety of flora and fauna throughout the year.

Kettering’s Newlands Shopping Centre and High Street have a wide range of high street shops with a mix of larger department stores, independents, and speciality shops catering for every kind of shopper. There’s no shortage of places to eat and drink here too including coffee shops, restaurants, and fast food.

There are several markets in Kettering and Northampton offering antiques, second hand items, collectables, arts and crafts, fruit and vegetables, local produce, and vintage fashion.

The Cultural Quarter in Kettering town centre has a relaxed vibe about it, more so than a typical high street, with a peaceful café culture complemented by independent shops. An array of restaurants and bars offer cuisine from around the world such as Italian, Mexican, and Indian, meaning the Cultural Quarter is a destination to take you from day to night.

Transport

Northamptonshire is surrounded by major motorways, the A1(M), M1 and M6, as well as the A14 which connects the county to the east and west of the country.

Kettering train station offers direct links by rail to London and nearby Peterborough links you to the north of the country, making train travel, whether for business or pleasure, simple and hassle-free.

For those wanting to travel further afield, London Luton Airport is less than an hour away by car, with both domestic and international flights available.

Food

Northamptonshire has a wonderful selection of pubs and restaurants offering a wide range of different cuisines to try, with well-known branded food outlets, family favourites and independent restaurants with awards to their name.

There is a great selection of pub lunches in pretty villages with views over the Northamptonshire landscape that has provided the ingredients for your meal, and more recently we’ve seen an influx of new restaurants in and around the newly regenerated Market Place in Kettering town centre.
