One of the most renowned landmarks in the city, Edinburgh Castle (and the National War Museum) sits at the top of the historic Royal Mile, where you can find a huge range of unique shops.

To go back in time, you can visit Arthur’s Seat, Holyrood Palace, Scott Monument, and St Giles' Cathedral, and if you want to find out even more about the history of Scotland, head to the National Museum of Scotland.

For anyone with children looking for things to do near our new homes in Edinburgh, be sure to go tire them out at Gravity Active or explore the Royal Botanic Garden at any point throughout the year.

Scottish whisky is a must-try when in the city and Johnnie Walker Princes Street offers an immersive experience, which can make for a great date idea if followed by drinks on their rooftop bar.

Transport in Edinburgh

With many major A roads circling the city, and motorways like the M8 (direct connection to Glasgow) and the M90 (north towards Dundee) on your doorstep, travelling in any direction by car from our new builds in Edinburgh couldn’t be easier.

Edinburgh Waverley train station offers direct connections to the likes of Bristol and London, with stops in York and Newcastle along the way depending on the service. For more local travel, Haymarket train station also allows anyone to travel to other areas of Scotland, like Stirlingshire.

Lothian Buses operate across the city and are available 24/7. You can get to Edinburgh Airport on the Airlink 100 and Skylink buses or by taking the Tram.

And speaking of Edinburgh Airport, you can head there to fly domestically and internationally to 150 destinations worldwide including Beijing, Chicago and Ibiza.

Shopping in Edinburgh

Retail therapy in Edinburgh is an unmissable experience. There aren't many cities in the world where the largest shopping street has an uninterrupted view of an ancient castle, but Edinburgh's Princes Street does just that!

With four storeys and over 80 shops, St James Quarter is every shopper's paradise. For more independent and vintage shopping, head to Grassmarket and Victoria Street.

George Street runs opposite Princes Street and offers a range of designer shopping but the go-to destinations for luxury shopping include William Street and Multrees Walk.

You can also find Ocean Terminal in nearby Leith, which overlooks the North Sea, making it worth the trip for the view alone.

And for those seeking fresh produce, there are several markets taking place across the city including Edinburgh Farmers' Market, Stockbridge Market, Leith Market and Grassmarket Market.

Restaurants in Edinburgh

There are some truly amazing places to eat in Edinburgh, many of which are award-winning.

For Naples-inspired cuisine, head to Locanda de Gusti, while Civerinos makes some of the best pizza in town.

If you’re looking for some Scottish food with a twist Fhior is a must try. Hawksmoor is the place to be if you’re craving an amazing steak or a great Sunday roast, and Fin & Grape are known for serving some of the best locally sourced fish dishes if you’re after ocean flavours. 

Fine dining enthusiasts will be glad to know there are also some Michelin Star restaurants near our new homes in Edinburgh, such as Timberyard, located in a converted warehouse.

Other fine-dining and Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurants in the city include gastropub The Scran and Scallie, Noto, which serves small plates, and Tipo with its Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Dùthchas is also a worthy mention for French Scottish fine dining.
