Transport in Blindwells

With the A1 less than 1 mile away from our new homes near Prestonpans, getting to and from Edinburgh is very straightforward. It also allows access to the east coast of the United Kingdom, taking you to Newcastle and beyond.

The nearest train station to Althamer View is in Prestonpans and can be reached by car in 5 minutes. From there, you can catch hourly services to Edinburgh or North Berwick, passing through the likes of Wallyford and Musselburgh.

Anyone wanting to catch the bus can walk 8 minutes to the Blindwells South stop, which is serviced by the 115 bus to Macmerry and the X5 to Edinburgh or North Berwick, among others.

As for international travel, Edinburgh Airport is a quick 30-minute drive via The City of Edinburgh Bypass, where you can take a well-deserved holiday to the likes of Turkey, Portugal or the United States.

Things to do around Blindwells

With Prestonpans Beach less than 10 minutes away by car, you’ll always be able to make the most of any good weather, whether it’s for a walk or a dip in the sea!

Fans of sports will be glad to know Meadowmill Sports Centre is just over 1 mile from our new homes near Prestonpans, where you can use the gym or make the most of indoor and outdoor facilities to play football, rugby and badminton.

Head to The Brig Inn in Tranent, reachable in 5 minutes by car, for some classic pub food and brunch options, or if you want a meal near the sea, then The Seaglass in Port Seton (a 2-mile drive) offers just that.

Both Asda and ALDI have superstores within a 2-mile radius from Althamer View for your weekly food shops. And if you want to shop until you drop, Fort Kinnaird is located a 9-minute drive from our development and is home to the likes of H&M, River Island and New Look.

Schools in Blindwells

With a new primary school built as part of the Blindwells project, our new build homes near Prestonpans are great for young families looking to settle down not too far from Edinburgh.

Other options less than a 10-minute drive from Althamer View also include Cockenzie Primary School, Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School and St Martin’s RC School. All of these cater for children aged 4-11.

For secondary education in the area, Preston Lodge High School in Prestonpans and Ross High School in Tranent are among the closest high schools to the development for children between the ages of 11-18.

There are also several nurseries for the little ones, with services available in Cockenzie at SeaHorse Nursery or in Tranent at Argyle Bridge Children’s Nursery, both less than 10-minutes away by car.

As for local higher education, Edinburgh is home to many universities, including The University of Edinburgh, Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh Napier University.
