Tell us a little bit about yourselves: 

We have been together since 2018, where we met whilst both working at Marks and Spencer. We have recently got engaged in our new Avant home, one week after moving in together. I now work as a Mechanical Engineer for a large engineering company and Demi works as a Nursery Practitioner, where she works with children with advanced special needs. We both love to travel, especially around the surrounding Scottish area, visiting many of its beautiful locations. 

What was your living situation before buying with Avant? 

Before buying our new home, we were both living with our parents. So this is our first time living together.

Which house type did you buy and why did you choose it?

We bought a 3 bedroom Elmwood. We chose this house type because of it’s spacious living room and kitchen. We also really liked the bedroom layout and the fact we have the space for an office and dressing room in the spare bedrooms.

Why did you choose Avant Homes over other developers? 

We chose Avant after pulling out of a previous home with another home developer. The service and care we had from our Sales Advisor at Avant was incredibly helpful. She made the whole home buying process easy to understand at each stage and was there for us through every step. This service is so helpful for first time buyers, like us, so we could understand all the different things going on.

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

We chose to buy a new build home because of the ability to add extras to our home and not having to do any work on it to make it feel like home. It was ready to move into straight away, all we had to buy was furniture. 

How did you find the buying process?

We found the buying process really straight forward with help from Avant and our mortgage advisor. 

What do you love most about the exterior of your home?

The garden space we have is amazing, especially the front garden plants that came with the house. We also love the windows, as they’re very big in size, which lets through plenty of natural light all day.

What do you love most about the interior of your home?

The overall layout of the house was a big seller for us. We have a lovely sized kitchen/dining area along with generously sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Being able to use the two spare bedroom as an office and dressing room was in our house buying criteria, so it’s exactly what we wished for! 

Did you go for any upgrades from Avant’s optional extra range?

We decided to upgrade the showers in our bathrooms, the garden fence, kitchen cupboards and add a backsplash and an integrated dishwasher.

How has your life changed since you moved into your Avant Home?

We are loving every moment of living together in our new Avant home, especially the independence it gives us. We love trying new foods, so being able to cook homecooked meals every day together is so nice. 

What is the community like on your development?

Everybody we’ve met has been lovely. As the development is still in its early stages, not many people have moved in yet so it’s still quite quiet. So, it’ll be nice when we get some more new neighbours! 

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to buy with Avant Homes?

Just ask as many questions as possible, the Avant team are more than happy to help!

Is there anything else you want to add about your home buying journey?

We had a rough start with looking for our first home for a year before finding our home with Avant. We had lack of communication from the previous developer, forcing us to pull out of the property. The difference between them and Avant was worlds apart. Avant’s sales team were so good with us, that we reserved our home on the first day after pulling out of the other property. We couldn’t recommend buying a house with Avant enough!
