Interior trends 2024

Are you looking to give your home a makeover this year and searching for inspiration from the latest trends?

In 2024, we find ourselves captivated by a fusion of classic elegance and sustainable innovation.

The design team at Show Business Interiors who designs some of our fantastic show homes, have given us an insight into the five exciting interior design trends that are making waves this year!

Deep blue hues

Blue Nova from Benjamin Moore Paint has been chosen as their Colour of the Year and is the go-to colour for those who seek sophistication and depth in their rooms. It is inspired by the night sky and the brilliance of a new star formed in space.

Bringing together violet and blue, this elevated, sumptuous hue brings a sense of calmness and tranquillity to any room. Blue Nova is not cold feeling, instead it offers an underlining cosy feel. Making it the perfect colour choice for your bedroom, living area, or even an accent wall.

Pastel lilacs and oranges

Toned-down neutrals have had their moment, so it’s time to welcome the soft embrace of pastel colours.

Lilacs and oranges are taking centre stage, offering a delicate and charming palette that effortlessly complements a variety of design styles.

These pastel tones provide a subtle way to incorporate colour without overwhelming a space, making them a versatile choice for any home makeover. With Pantone’s Colour of the Year – Peach Fuzz- which radiates warmth and modern elegance leading this trend, there’s no escaping wonderfully pale shades!

These hues are perfect for creating peaceful bedrooms, laid-back living spaces, or even playful children's rooms.

Mixed textures

This year, interior design is all about tactile experiences. Embrace the beauty of mixed textures by blending moderns and traditional elements to create visual interest and depth, such as ribbed furniture, tactile textures, and fluted headboards.

In the same room, incorporate a mix of materials such as plush velvet, rough stone, and smooth metal to create a sensory experience in your home.

Sustainability

Do you think about where your home décor comes from?

Sustainable design practices are now becoming a way of life for many people, with an emphasis on eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient lighting, and recycled or upcycled furniture.

Incorporating these elements not only enhances the overall look of your home but also contributes to a greener, more sustainable future.

Multifunctional living

Recent events have reshaped our use of the rooms in our homes. As our homes continue to evolve, so does the need for adaptable spaces.

We are now entering an era of secondary spaces – adapting rooms to serve multiple functions, to accommodate the flexible needs of modern living.

Home gyms that transform into guest bedrooms, dining rooms doubling as a home office and cosy relaxation spaces seamlessly integrated into living areas.

The key is to maximise functionality without compromising on style, using convertible furniture and modular designs. Creating a home that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
