Now we are truly in the thick of winter, it’s extra important to maintain a constant level of cosiness to make those short days and cold nights a little bit easier. Here are our top 5 tips to keep cosy in your home this winter.

Weighted Blanket

Jumping into a warm cosy bed in winter is one of the few pleasures we can get during the colder season. Sleep is important for our physical and mental wellbeing, and by adding a weighted blanket to your bed, it really can improve the quality of your winter slumber.

Feel real life hibernation with a weighted blanket. Research shows due to the exerted pressure on the body these blankets simulate the feeling of a hug. They reduce anxiety and provide a sense of calmness in the chaos of winter. Although not suitable for children, a weighted blanket can make your winter nights even warmer and cosier.

Layers on the sofa

Winter is messy; muddy boots, mucky paws and all that Christmas chocolate staining your sofa! By adding extra textile layers to your sofa, you reduce the risk of mess and stains whilst creating a real sense of comfort and warmth.

Extra blankets and materials on the sofa are also a great opportunity to add a pop of colour in what can be quite a dull and dark season. Whether you’re cuddling up under these cosy blankets or just for a bit of extra decoration, by layering up on your sofa you can achieve a homely vibe to your winter interior

Lighting

Lighting in winter is very important especially when almost a third of the day is spent in the dark!
Low lighting is crucial in the winter, it helps to draw the night in. Having lots of lamps around in different shade colours and patterns can really light up a space, creating a sense of winter harmony. Plus, it’s a lovely feeling to go around putting them all on before getting all cosy and settling down for a warm night in.

Music

This may appear to be a strange choice at first, but you cannot understate the importance of music to your home in winter, it can change the whole feel of the house!

With an affordable Bluetooth speaker and a great playlist, you can create a world far away from the dullness of winter. Music can also drown out the sound of the horrible winter weather, letting you cook, clean and cosy down in the peace and happiness of your favourite soundtrack.

Flowers and plants

It’s easy to forget about foliage in winter but bringing the outside in shouldn’t be exclusive to summer.

Bringing plants and flowers inside can remind you of the changing seasons and how it won’t be rainy and grey forever, all whilst adding fragrance and colour to your home. Why not bring some seasonal plants inside like Jasmines or even bits from the garden. Using foliage can make your home dynamic feel more natural, light and extra cosy.
