The group requires essential and ongoing maintenance work at its hut, including replacing the gas boiler, refurbishing the toilets, fitting boundary fencing and resurfacing its driveway.
With the donation from Avant Homes, which is currently developing the nearby Brecks Lane Park scheme, the Scout group will be able to start making some of these much-needed updates and repairs.
The 46th Rotherham Scout Group has more than 50 members, ranging from 6-8 year olds in its Beaver colony to 8-10 year olds in Cubs and 10-14 year olds in the Scout section.
Commenting on the donations, 46th Rotherham Deputy Scout Group leader, Jenny Munday, said: “We’re very thankful for this donation from Avant Homes, which will help us begin to undertake some of the required repairs at the Scout hut.
“The 46th Rotherham Scout Group plays an important role within the local community and helping encourage young people to live an active, healthy lifestyle, all in the great outdoors. Donations like this are vital to ensuring we can maintain our hut and continue to support our members.”
Located just three miles east of Rotherham town centre, Brecks Lane Park will comprise a mix of three and four-bedroom homes.
Caroline Spray, regional sales manager at Avant Homes West Yorkshire, said: “We’re committed to supporting good causes within the locality and understand how important of a community asset the 46th Rotherham Scout Group is.”
“It’s our pleasure to make this donation to support the Scout group in making the required repairs and upgrades, so there is a safe environment for young people in the area to enjoy.”
