Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Planner to join our team based at our West Midlands head office in Coleshill, Birmingham.

The Role

Do you hold a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited degree?

Are you keen to develop your Planning career within residential housebuilding?

We are open to speaking with recent graduates who are looking to start a career within town planning.

To be considered for the role, you will hold a relevant RTPI accredited degree or some experience of working within a Town Planning discipline, either working for a private sector consultancy or local authority where you will have gained experience of assisting in the coordination and/or determination of residential planning applications.

The successful candidate will also be supported to achieve RTPI chartered membership.

Key duties and requirements

You will also be responsible for but not limited to;

  • Working closely with the Regional Land and Technical teams and third-party providers to ensure that planning applications are prepared on time in accordance with the Local Authority and our own requirements.
  • Assisting with providing key status, project information, assessments, analysis, negotiations, and recommendations in relation to all planning matters.
  • Assisting the region to monitor and report on both local and national planning policy changes and key planning decisions.
  • Supporting in the creation of planning reports, appraisals and documentation for each development or phase of development.
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider regional team on all planning matters.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful as our Assistant Planner you will either be working within the Town Planning industry or are a recent graduate looking to kick start your planning career within the house building industry.

You will be able to evidence your knowledge within the planning field along with demonstrating strong coordination, communication, time management, analytical and multi-tasking skills.

To be considered for this role you must also possess;

  • An RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) accredited degree
  • A full U.K. Driving License
  • Entry level experience in the coordination of residential planning applications
  • Experience of supporting in the successful delivery of planning approvals
  • An understanding of the legal frameworks associated with town planning and development procurement.
  • Good Technical knowledge and Financial/Commercial awareness
