Living in Awsworth

Things to Do in Awsworth

Awsworth is a place that thrives thanks to its sense of community. Many of the community-centred events in the village are driven by the local Awsworth Parish Council.

Just a 5-minute drive from Awsworth is the Giltbrook Shopping Park, with a huge range of stores including IKEA, TKMaxx and Next, along with restaurants such and cafes as Nando's, Pizza Express and Starbucks.

The New Manor Ground is home of Ilkeston Town Football Club and just a short walk away from Awsworth. This is the perfect place to visit and support your local team.

A number of recreation grounds

The council manages and regularly raises funds for the Lane Recreation Ground and the Shilo Recreation Ground.

The Lane Recreation Ground is the village’s most prominent sporting field where the community gather for casual football and cricket games. The Lane Recreation Ground also boasts a skate park.

The Shilo Recreation Ground is one for the whole family, with the park’s Pocket Park Playground being particularly popular with the kids! The park has some beautiful walking paths laid out, making it ideal for a chilled day out with the family.

Getting involved with the council

We highly recommend getting involved in the different events they host and, if you’re interested in having your voice heard or contributing towards the community’s calendar of events, the Parish Council gets together on the first Tuesday of every month, and the public are invited to attend. The council also holds an election every 4 years if it’s something you would like to get deeply involved in.

If you would like to become a part of Awsworth’s warm and wonderful community, please do feel free to reach out to our team who will be able to provide you with more information about our beautiful houses for sale in Awsworth.
