Dorman Museum is a popular attraction a short drive from the new development in Acklam. The museum was built in memory of George Lockwood Dorman and Yorkshire Regiments who sadly lost their lives during the South African Wars. What originally started as a natural history museum that could only be viewed by private members has grown over the decades to feature extensive historical items. There are interactive galleries such as the H20 exhibit where you can try to catch fish or load up your boats. The museum has an array of artifacts, botanical items, and photography to enjoy, there are also special exhibits during the years. The museum itself is free to visit with some galleries and exhibits incurring an additional charge.
